growing up in the ruhr area of the 90s,I was influenced by the remnants of a once flourishing industrial region. the desolate buildings, the infrastructure designed for heavy industr and the typical workers' housing estates, have changed the perception of my surroundings and my understanding of this region.

my mother comes from poland, more precisel from the Upper Silesian industrial area, a region that has undergone a similar transformation. i wanted to understand what connects these places, what makes them different, and whether I can move in a foreign, familiar region as I do at home.
